ACI – Code 323-24 Presented by Nathan Forrest, PE, ENV SP, Technical Director of the California Nevada Cement Association. Low Carbon Concrete—The proposed Code defines Low-Carbon Concrete (LCC) as concrete designed with reduced upfront embodied Global Warming Potential (GWP). The proposed Code is in addition to and does not substitute governing building or structural design codes and standards. The proposed Code focuses on the concrete component, i.e., the concrete mix designs and their associated volumes used on a project.
NRMCA – EPA GRANT Presented by Lionel Lemay, Executive Vice President, Structures and Sustainability, NRMCA Through a five-year project, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) aims to increase the quantity and quality of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for ready-mix concrete. NRMCA plans to provide grants to producers to develop EPDs for an additional 3,000 plants, doubling the current 1,500. Through this initiative, NRMCA will collaborate with all stakeholders involved to ensure its success. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is set to begin funding the project in the fourth quarter of 2024. Learn more: www.nrmca.org/EPAGrant.
