Topic: Sound Transit Bellevue Tunnel Tour

Join us for an onsite tour and presentation for the Eastside’s newest mass transit project that connects Redmond to Mercer Island.   Sound Transit's East Link light rail line will extend 14 miles from downtown Seattle to the Overlake area in Redmond, with 10 stations in Mercer Island, South Bellevue, downtown Bellevue, Bel-Red (Bellevue) and Overlake.  The $3.7B project includes the new $133M 2000 foot tunnel traveling under Bellevue. 

Presented by Atkinson construction; the Sequential Excavation Tunnel  is the 1^st project element and work began in March 2016 with tunnel excavation beginning in  Feb. 2017.    Tunnel excavation and support was completed in July 2018.   With heavy (civil) construction schedule now mid 2020.  

Current work underway includes; Installing invert reinforcement, Final lining of tunnel invert and Invert waterproofing.

Tonight’s presentation and tours will be presented by; Casey Henning-Project Engineer Atkinson, Patrick Niemuth - Project Engineer for Atkinson and Drew Mason-Project Engineer Atkinson.  Our speakers have been with Atkinson for 2-3 years and have professional backgrounds in mining and underground construction. 

The tour will be conducted by Atkinson construction.  All those taking the tour will park & stage at the NW parking lot at the Bellevue Red Lion.  Details will be outline in your registration confirmation email.

ALL Visitors MUST have PPE including: YELLOW vests, hard hat, glasses, gloves, and boots.
